What is GCN all about?

Global Community Network was birthed out of the need for developing relational

connections rather than structural ones as we move into the future.  There were

many core values that did not fit into the denominational structure. In 2001, GCN

started with a group of churches that transitioned from the local Mennonite

conference.  These churches were all in agreement with the same values and beliefs,

particulary the desire to move in the apostolic and the prophetic.  Currently, there

are seven churches in the network.  The leaders and spouses put a high value on

relationships and meet regularly for accountability and encouragement.

WE BELIEVE...

1. MINISTRY flows from relationship.

2. AUTHORITY functions through relationship.

3. EXCELLENCE and integrity honor God and promote His Kingdom.

4. Respect for DIVERSITY is essential in maintaining unity.

5. LEADERSHIP develops in the context of responsibility.

6. As the five-fold ministry gifts serve together, they provide corporate APOSTOLIC  anointing to equip and train.

7. Commitment to MISSIONS shapes other priorities.

8. We are members of the KINGDOM OF GOD.

OUR STATEMENT OF FAITH

We Believe...that the Holy Bible, and only the Bible, is 100% the Word of God.

It alone is the final authority in determining all doctrinal truths.

II Timothy 3:16

We Believe...the doctrine of the Trinity, that in God there are three distinct persons, the Father, the Son (Jesus), and Holy Spirit.

Matthew 28:19

We Believe...that Jesus Christ is God the Son, the second person of the Trinity.

John 1:1, 14

We Believe...in repentance, the commitment to turn away from sin in every area of our lives and to follow Christ.

Acts 2:38

We Believe...in the ongoing process of yielding to God in order to complete development of Christ's character.

I Thessalonians 5:23

We Believe...we are saved by grace (which is undeserved and unearned favor) through faith in Jesus Christ, and the death, burial, and resurrection.  Salvation is a gift from God, not as a result of our good works or any human effort.

Titus 3:5, Ephesians 2:8-9

We Believe...the blood that Jesus Christ shed on the Cross of Calvary was sinless and is 100% sufficient to forgive man of all sins.

I John 1:9

We Believe...a Christian is a person who has invited the Lord Jesus Christ to come and live inside of him.  He is putting his trust in what Christ has accomplished for him when He died, was buried and rose again from the dead.

John 14:23

We Believe...that Jesus Christ was physically resurrected from the dead in a glorified body three days after His death on the cross.  One day all believers will also be physically resurrected in their glorified bodies to their eternal reward in Heaven with God.

Luke 24:36, 39; Philippians 3:21

We Believe...Heaven is the eternal dwelling place of all believers in the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

II Corinthians 5:1

After living one's life on earth, the wicked will be judged by God and sent to Hell where they will be eternally, consciously, tormented with the devil and the fallen angels.

Matthew 28:19

We Believe...in water baptism.  Following believing on the Lord Jesus Christ, the new convert is commanded by the Word of God to be baptized in water in the Name of the Lord.

Matthew 28:19

We Believe...in the Lord's Supper.  A unique time of communion in the presence of God when the elements of bread and wine, representing the Body and Blood of the Lord Jesus Christ, are taken in remembrance of Christ's sacrifice on the cross.

 I Corinthians 11:23-25

We Believe...Jesus Christ will physically and visibly return to earth for the second time to establish His Kingdom.  This will occur at a date undisclosed by the scriptures.

Revelation 1:7

We Believe...that healing of the sick was illustrated in the life and ministry of Jesus, and included in the commission of Jesus to His disciples.  Given as a sign which was to follow believers, it is a part of Christ's atonement on the cross.

Matthew 8:16-17

We Believe...in the baptim in the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in tongues.  Given at Pentecost, it was the promise of the Father, sent by Jesus after His Ascension, to empower the Church to preach the Gospel through the whole earth.  Its purpose was to bring edification to the believer, to enhance his prayer life and as a sign to the unbeliever.  Acts 2:38-39

We Believe...in the free expression of worship, singing, dancing, shouting, clapping, singing in the Spirit, lifting of hands, prophesying, musical instruments, scripture songs, kneeling, lying prostrate before the Lord.  We believe it must not be a ritual we go through but must come from the Spirit.

Psalm 149-150; Ephesians 5:19

We Believe...we are in warfare against Satan and we must know his tactics and also know how to fight him which includes deliverance and knowing the authority of Jesus' name.  Ephesians 6:11.12

We Believe...the local church is made up of many gifts given by Jesus to work together in love and unity to build up the body of Christ till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God to a perfect man, to the measure of stature of the fullness of Christ.

Ephesians 4:12,13
